Internet Marketing
INTERNET MARKETING – MARKETING A WEBSITE
It would be safe to say that everything that I do online for my own businesses and for clients businesses all fall under the umbrella of “Internet Marketing”
Internet marketing covers all aspects of promoting your business online.
This online promotion need not only be restricted to the promotion of your website or websites, but allows for other online promotion and marketing methods that all are designed to get more visitors to your website and therefore more money.
There are multiple ways that businesses can take advantage of online marketing methods, and while these will differ widely between business types – I can assure you that if you are new to this Internet marketing world, you are in for a lot of joy.
Would you want 100 000 more visitors to your website?
In certain cases it is possible to start to generate up to 100 000 visitors a month to your business by applying carefully targeted marketing methods to your websites. The “cases” that I refer to are governed only be the existing amount of people that search for specific terms every month online.
Is this really True?
To give you an idea, in South Africa alone – every month over 1 million people are online looking for jobs. 600 000 people are looking up wedding related keyword terms – every month.
All you need to do is to apply some very basic marketing methods to your websites that relate to the wedding industry – and over time your visitor count will climb and climb – until you are getting up to 50% and more of the people that are searching for that specific keyword term.
Patio furniture – 25000 a month is one of the markets that I am competing in.
Are these visitors as powerful as a shop-walk-in-client?
No – I would never tell you that your online visitor has a 30% chance of purchasing your patio furniture from your website on their very first visit. Online marketing has a different set of problems to overcome, and it is something that your website will need to take into account.
The average affiliate website (which will have a worse conversion rate than your patio furniture website) is converting their visitors at rates as low as .375%. so if your website selling an anxiety report for $47 gets 15000 visitors a month – you are likely to earn 15000 x .375% x $47 = 56 sales @ $47 = $2632 (x about 7 to get rands =R18000) Now R18 000 a month from just owning a website that sells a report for $47 seems great right? However while the estimated numbers are all accurate, your website is going to need huge amounts of work to get itself to the point where it is ranking for well targeted keywords in the “anxiety” industry to start to get those 15000 monthly visitors.
Take an example here using those patio furniture numbers. Let us say that you are only featuring on one third of those keywords. so you are only able to get onto page one – number one of 30% of them.
your website will be number one page one, for a possible 7500 visitors. However even being number one, only gets you 45% of the clicks to your website.
Now I will presume that your website has all the “honey-traps” that will encourage your new visitors to become actively involved immediately on your website.
So you will get 3375 visitors a month. Now I get to the guessing stage, as I do not have proven numbers to use as an example here.
I will use a R10 000 patio price set as my example in this exercise, but naturally the numbers will differ every month.
Worst case scenario. .375% conversion = This will give you 12 sales and R120 000 turnover.
Possible 1% to 3 % is more likely, if you are doing all the on-site stuff correctly.
this will give you between R 330 000 and 1million potential turnover from your website alone.
I can show you how to go out there and get that sort of income. Simple step by step methods applied daily.
I can teach you how to do it yourself, or I can do the whole bang-shoot for you.
BUT – all businesses differ
I am fully aware that to market a local plumbing business is totally different to the methods that I would employ to market that “anxiety” website. While a number of the core components in the marketing would remain the same, like your back link strategy and your article marketing etc, the social marketing would be very different. Local businesses can also gain huge advantages from using mobile marketing.
What does “Internet marketing” cover?
Internet marketing is very complex and extremely simple…
Seriously – while it covers a massive array of tools and methods that can be used to boost the exposure of your Facebook fan page or your website, or you Scribd account – all the methods are really simple to apply, and only seem daunting when you first get to know them
The average internet marketer will use up to 80% of the following list of methods and tools that I will just list out of my head here below.
niche research, keyword research, SEO on the website, SEO off the website, back linking, forum marketing, link wheels, LSI keywords, WordPress CMS systems, targeted domain ownership, article marketing, video marketing, classified marketing, directory marketing, blog farming, blogging, guest posting, post commenting, scribed, squidoo, press releases, hubs, twitter, Facebook, linkedin, myspace, digg, yahoo answers, and a ton more social marketing methods (Stumbleupon? – MASSIVE if worked correctly)
Do your Business a favor
Do you see that it is vital to your business that you take the time to consult a professional and full time Internet marketer, and do not just believe any or the first “SEO specialist” that you come across. While there are thousands of businesses alone here in South Africa that do SEO for businesses a lot only do the very basics, like putting your business onto Google maps, and then entering your website onto a few online directories. Others will simply put your details into one of the busier directories, and while you will get a small spike in visitors – it will be nowhere near your potential.
All I do online is learn of all the existing marketing methods, and all the new and upcoming internet marketing ideas – and apply them – both for my own websites and for my clients businesses.
This brings me to another vital factor that I need to point out. I am a single person and therefore am not able to take on dozens of clients. In some situations I can do your initial analysis, and then refer you on to another SEO business that I know does what they say they will, without using dubious software to get your SEO set up, and potentially damaging your business online.
The easiest thing to do is to simply get onto the phone and tell me about your business. If at the end of that call you want to look into marketing your business further then we can go deeper into the matter.
